Song of a Convert
A song of a convert.
Let me pray the prayers of our people
for the words of the holy tongue
are sweet in my mouth
--better than wine--
Yisrael!
You have drawn me--I run after you.
Let me hear the teaching of your sons,
the songs of your daughters.
Let me learn from your daughters,
sing with your sons.
How beautiful are your sons, oh Yisrael:
how wise your daughters!
All are my teachers, I rejoice in them.
I came to you a stranger,
oh daughters of Zion, oh sons of Yerushalayim:
A wanderer, my heart was filled with longing for you.
All this night I searched for you
I searched, and feared I would never find.
Now I will no longer veil myself from your sight:
I will not be separated from you!
