Twice a Stranger
why did I think
I could be here
What makes me think
I am allowed
I dare to raise up my voice
just like I belong
Just like i have a right
'Sh'ma, Yisrael!' am I Yisrael, to say this?
"Avoteynu, Imoteynu" --are they my mothers, my fathers?
If i was only once a stranger
i could be allowed
i could be welcomed
i could be a strength
(I have seen this)
if i was only queer
i could be allowed
i could be welcomed
i could be a blessing
(i have seen this)
but I am twice a stranger
Twice an outsider
Why do I feel I belong
Why do I raise up my voice
My heart singing:
My people, My people
